Peer Review Process

The Orthopedic Surgery Case Reports Journal accepts submissions that highlight new discoveries, rare presentations, and innovative developments in orthopedic surgery, musculoskeletal medicine, trauma care, sports injuries, spine disorders, and related fields. Contributions may be submitted in the form of original articles, review articles, case reports, short communications, mini reviews, commentaries, perspectives, opinions, editorials, editor’s notes, and image-based articles.

This is an open-access journal, ensuring that all published articles are freely accessible online without subscription or access barriers to clinicians, researchers, and academicians worldwide.

Overview of the Peer Review Process

1. Submission of Manuscript

Authors must submit manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. All submissions should follow the journal’s formatting, structural, and ethical guidelines.

2. Initial Editorial Assessment

The editorial team performs a preliminary evaluation to determine the manuscript’s suitability. This includes assessing originality, clinical relevance, adherence to guidelines, and overall quality. Manuscripts that do not meet essential criteria or fall outside the scope of orthopedic surgery may be declined without external review.

3. Selection of Reviewers

If the manuscript passes the initial assessment, it is assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant orthopedic subspecialty. Reviewers are selected carefully to ensure no conflicts of interest with the authors.

4. Peer Review

Reviewers assess the manuscript based on:

  • Scientific accuracy and clinical methodology

  • Novelty and significance of the case or findings

  • Clarity, organization, and completeness

  • Compliance with ethical and patient confidentiality standards

They provide constructive and unbiased feedback along with recommendations for improvement.

5. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers' comments, the editorial team makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept – With no or minor revisions

  • Revise and Resubmit – Further improvement required

  • Reject – Not suitable for publication in the journal

6. Revisions

If revisions are requested, authors receive a deadline to respond to reviewers’ comments and resubmit the manuscript. Revised submissions may undergo further peer review, depending on the nature and extent of revisions.

7. Final Decision

The editorial team evaluates the final version of the manuscript. If it meets all journal standards, it is accepted for publication.

8. Publication

Accepted articles are processed and published online as open access to maximize global visibility and accessibility. Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for easy referencing and indexing.

The Orthopedic Surgery Case Reports Journal is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, and integrity in the peer review process. The journal follows internationally accepted best practices in scholarly publishing, adhering to the guidelines of:
